CrossFit Family Wellness Night at SECTA

You and your families are welcome to attend the first annual CrossFit Family Wellness Night at SECTA. Sorry for the late notice, this was originally a requirement for the of the CrossFit initiative/grant and designed to benefit the parents of my Functional Fitness (CrossFit Classes). It was not until the last minute, however, that I realized the information will likely benefit anyone associated with, interested in, or who has questions about strength and conditioning, health and fitness, wellness, CrossFit, the CCSD CrossFit Initiative, and CrossFit opportunities at SECTA. Both the agenda, and a google form to submit an RSVP are attached, hope to see you all there.

Instructor Profile

Hi, I am Coach Bryant.  CrossFit is a registered trademark and I have the non-profit CrossFit Joint Effort affiliate through CrossFit.com.  CrossFit Joint Effort at SECTA was originally created to fulfill one of the requirements for the CTG (Community Transformation Grant).  CTG is a grant that was awarded to the Clark County School District and funded by the CDC (Center for Disease Control) for the purpose of implementing CrossFit curriculum into physical education.  Coach Bryant, and Southeast Career Technical Academy (SECTA), were selected as one of ten schools to be a pilot program for implementing CrossFit into physical education classes, and for after school extracurricular activities.

By way of introduction, I have been teaching and coaching in the Clark County School District for nineteen years, and have been a member of the Nevada National Guard for the same amount of time. I am presently a CrossFit Level 1 trainer and also have my, CrossFit Kids, and CrossFit Movement and Mobility certifications.  My hobbies are wrestling, horses, and spending time with family on our family farm.

I look forward to meeting you this year and helping you to reach your fitness goals.

Class Overview

CrossFit Joint Effort at SECTA is a non-profit of affiliate of CrossFit, and CrossFit.com, a registered trademark.  The founder, Greg Glassman, defines CrossFit as constantly varied, high intensity, functional movements.  A typical class/workout will consist of a warm up, 10-20 minutes of a high intensity routine/workout, and a cool down.  The nice thing about CrossFit workouts is that no two workouts will ever be the same, and there is always a way to score the workout.  Scores are for you to measure your personal progress and never for the purpose of competing against others in the class.  You will, however, earn daily participation points by recording each workout, and your score for the workout, in an online daily journal via google drive.

Grading Scale
A            Excellent                        90 - 100%

D            Below Average              60 - 69%
F            Failure                            Below 60%

Daily Points
Each workout is worth 10 points:
5 points = dress out in proper uniform
5 points = participated, completed, and recorded the workout on google drive
